Punjab is taking the struggling state of biodiversity seriously. This World Environment day, a green ceremony was conducted all over Punjab, keeping in mind the theme of 2016 “Go wild for Life- Zero Tolerance for Illegal Wildlife Trade”.
NGO’s got involved in the celebrations and encouraged the citizens to go green by indulging them in green activities like green walks, plantation drives and seminars. Not only this, BIG GM also collaborated with WWF India-Punjab to organize a painting competition for school children at 45 different locations. The aim of this activity was to sensitize and educate children about the deteriorating environment and how they can contribute to the prevention of the environment.
Kapsons in association with citizen activists, also held a nature walk from the Mall Road to the company Bagh which was joined by Jagjit Singh Walia who also emphasized on saving the environment and adopting a healthy lifestyle
Amritsar topped the way they celebrated and spread awareness around environment, the Local Bodies Minister, Anil Joshi started the ceremony by leading a cycle rally from Novelty Chowk to Company Badh, where along with the other participants he planted saplings and distributed them among the morning walkers and joggers to motivate them to take care of the environment and replicate the act. The government understands the importance of protecting wildlife and stepped up by focusing on the prohibition of deforestation.
