Unemployment is a situation in which the human resource of an area is being wasted, owing to the negligible source of income. The socio – economic consequences of unemployment in a state are grave. Punjab, being a state which was initially grappling with the problem of unemployment, the responsive Shiromani Akali Dal – BJP led state government has launched various schemes to provide effective training to create employment opportunities for the youth in the state of Punjab.
The Center of Punjab for Youth Training and Employment Training Centers (CPYTE), has been set – up by the department of Employment generation and training, government of Punjab for the working for the total employment of the youth of the state, by developing a visionary strategy and policy framework for accelerating the employment opportunities in the state. The department is responsible for the establishment of various budget and plans of the employment wing, management and administration of the training centers in order to provide efficient and effective training to the youth, furnishing unemployment allowances and creating vocational Guidance and The promotion of the various Self-Employment Programmes. The department of Employment generation and training is also responsible for looking after all the matters relating to the Employment Generation and Training in the State of Punjab which include all Central, State and district committees, bureaus or societies formed under the Department.
The Center of Punjab for Youth Training and Employment Training Centers is situated with the group of Camps at various locations which include Faridkot, Ludhiana Theh Kanjla (Kapurthala), Nabha, Lalru and even Girls Camps at Mansa and Kairon. The main functions performed by The Center of Punjab for Youth Training and Employment Training Centers comprise of imparting pre – selection training to the youth for entering the defense services, police forces and Para military. In contrast to preparing the ineligible youth for paving their way into employment opportunities in the public sector and the private industries, The Center of Punjab for Youth Training and Employment Training Centers motives the youth to indulge themselves for self – employment ventures.
The minister in charge of Center of Punjab for Youth Training and Employment Training Centers, Ajit Singh Kohar has left no stone unturned to create awareness among the unemployed youth of the state, catering employment oriented training and unleash them from the tight fists of illicit activities such as liquor consumption and drugs.
Needless to say, the multi – dimensional strategy and policy framework of the Center of Punjab for Youth Training and Employment Training Centers have been conducive in creating an environment which cultivates the values of harmony, nation building and a socially responsible youth through consistently upgrading their skills and knowledge through the medium of employment oriented training. With initiatives like these, the unemployment issue is being tackled with utmost care. After all, the bright future of a country lies in the hands of the youth. Their development shall be tantamount to the economic development and growth of the state.
