As the Shiromani Akali Dal – BJP led state government completed 9 years of functioning, it has been evidently flourishing in the development of services to the citizens. The number of blue card holders has witnessed acceleration from 16 lakh to 28 lakh blue card holders. A new Atta – Dal scheme has been launched by the state government, for issuing verified blue cards to the families who are below poverty line.
As per minister Adesh Partap Singh Kairon, “Punjab continues to enjoy the status of bread basket of India as it plays an important role in contributing the largest part of central food grain pool. Working in close cooperation with Government of India, Food Corporation of India and other procurement agencies in Punjab, the Department has, over the years, created a reputation of being a leader in introducing innovation in the field of food grains procurement and storage.
