This industry is growing rapidly and for the enhancement of dairy farming, various policies & schemes have been initiated by dairy development board, so that farmers of Punjab could be aligned with dairy farming besides agriculture.

Dairy farming is the best & profitable occupation for farmers in Punjab as with the help of dairy farming, by meeting the increasing milk demand & getting the income on daily basis the traditional agriculture practices could be transformed into modern practices. To further help the farmers, Dairy Development Board provides subsidized loan at 33% lesser interest rates to trained beneficiaries for establishing commercial dairy units with capacity for 10 or more milk producing animals.

Besides this, the board provides 50 % subsidy on milk extractor machines, and Fodder Harvester & Bio Gas. With the objective of developing dairy on modern and scientific lines, the Punjab Government on Sunday announced 50% subsidy on purchase of ‘Total Fodder Mixing Wagon’ for dairy farmers.
