Punjab has reached its zenith in the field of agriculture in the present time. Dairy farming is accentuating its impact on the economy as well. This industry is growing rapidly and for the enhancement of dairy farming, various policies & schemes have been initiated by dairy development board, so that farmers of Punjab could be aligned with dairy farming besides agriculture.
Dairy farming is the best & profitable occupation for farmers in Punjab as with the help of dairy farming, by meeting the increasing milk demand & getting the income on daily basis the traditional agriculture practices could be transformed into modern practices. To further help the farmers, Dairy Development Board provides subsidized loan at 33% lesser interest rates to trained beneficiaries for establishing commercial dairy units with capacity for 10 or more milk producing animals.
Besides this, the board provides 50 % subsidy on milk extractor machines, and Fodder Harvester & Bio Gas. The milk producers could get more benefit by producing milk & dairy products and consumers could get good quality milk products at affordable rates. With the objective of developing dairy on modern and scientific lines, the Punjab Government on Sunday announced 50% subsidy on purchase of ‘Total Fodder Mixing Wagon’ for dairy farmers. To promote allied activities, the State Government is offering many subsidies to dairy farmers. Apart from other subsidies, Total Fodder Mixing Wagon machines would be provided to the dairy farmers on subsidy by Punjab Dairy Development Board, as it is already been given on Milking Machine, Fodder Harvester and Bulk Milk Cooler (with Generator Set).
Enhancing the status of women yet again in this field as well, Punjab Government is also providing 50% subsidy on purchase of 10-20 milching animals, especially to women entrepreneurs. For subsidy benefits on ‘Total Fodder Mixing Wagon’, a beneficiary should have 20 milching animals and must have 15 days certificate training from Dairy Development Department, Punjab Dairy Development Board or GADVASU and other extension centres of the Department.
